There are two types of aging. Aging due to inherited genes called intrinsic, or internal, aging. Extrinsic, or external, aging is influenced by the environment. Intrinsic aging also known as natural aging normally begins in our mid-20. The skins collagen production slows. Elastin, the substance that enables skin to snap back in place, loses spring. Dead skin cells do not shed as quickly as before and turnover of new skin cells may decrease slightly.
Extrinsic aging is caused by a whole package of external factors. Among these is the Sun. Just a few minutes every day without sun protection will cause premature aging. Freckles, age spots, spider veins on the face, rough and leathery skin, fine wrinkles that disappear when stretched, loose skin, a blotchy complexion and skin cancer can be traced to sun exposure. Facial expressions, do you perform facial exercise, thinking they will help you maintain your youthful look? STOP! Too many facial movements actually lead to fine lines and wrinkles.
